Board Members:

JOHN CRAIG - President

John is co-founder of Eliminate Poverty NOW and has focused his "second career" on creating economic opportunity in the developing world. Prior to EPN, John spent 26 years in business, including 16 years as president of divisions of Kraft Foods and Warner-Lambert. John has a BA and MBA from Harvard University

When he is not devoting time to EPN, John enjoys hiking in the Colorado.mountains, traveling, and watching UConn Women's basketball. He also enjoys photography, good food, (especially dessert), flowers, and dogs.


JUDY CRAIG - Treasurer

Judy is a co-founder of Eliminate Poverty NOW. Along with her husband, John, EPN has allowed her to live out her passion for helping poor women achieve greater earning potential. When Judy is not working with EPN, she enjoys spending time with her family, contributing to and volunteering in the Jewish community, spinning, weaving, knitting, vegetable gardening, and cooking, and word games and puzzles.



PETER WENTWORTH - Vice President

Peter Wentworth brings over 30 years of diverse, global business experience to EPN.  Peter is President of Wentworth Associates, LLC. which provides organizational consulting and interim HR executive services to various public and private equity-backed companies.  Peter joined the Eliminate Poverty NOW Board in 2014 and serves as its Vice President.  He has visited several EPN initiatives in Africa, including in Kenya, Rwanda and Niger.  Peter is also Past President and Board Member Emeritus of Morris Habitat for Humanity. Peter received his PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Wayne State University.  



Larry Samuels, PhD, joined the Eliminate Poverty NOW Board in 2010.  He is Senior Director at Pfizer, Inc., and Medical Affairs lead for the smoking cessation medication, Chantix.  He has over 30 years’ experience in drug development and business development in the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to EPN, Larry serves on the External Advisory Board for the Professional Science Master’s Program in Biotechnology at Brandeis University. Larry received his PhD in Pharmacology from The George Washington University in Washington DC and completed his postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Research Institute in NY, NY.  


Elizabeth Craig, PhD, is a daughter of John and Judy and shares their passion for EPN's mission, particularly empowering women. Liz is a researcher and lecturer at the University of New Hampshire where she works towards the conservation of endangered seabirds at the Shoals Marine Laboratory. Liz has worked at a number of NGOs, and has served on the Executive Council of the Waterbird Society.
